Previous owner put in a new dash, but no glass/plastic over the gauges. Well son was out playing around and pulled the needle off the speedometer. He says it fell down into the dash, but I can't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know off a place that sells just the needle?

No I do not but there is another problem. Once you get the needle how will you calibrate the speedo? The needle will push on in any orientation. You will need to find a way to go down the road at X speed and then play with needle to get it to read properly. I would can the speedo and find another one. Much easier and more accurate. Bill

That's probably what I'll end up doing, Just seeing if anyone had any other options.

Unless I am badly mistaken the needle has a positive stop at zero MPH. In other words it lays against a solid surface. I'd be thinking to installing it right at that surface. I wouldn't be surprised to find a little metal peg in the speedo face that is its prop.

That's what I'd like to try first, but I don't have a needle right now. I haven't found anywhere that sells just the needle.

I have a needle just send me your address and I'll get it to you. Just noticed you said guages. This needle is from a sweep speedo. If it'll work offer stands. Pete

Pete, it's not a sweep dash it's the SS kind with the 3 circles. Anyone know if the sweep needle will work, probably not huh?

Charbilly is right there is a stop but, the needle when calibrated right will go beyond that if the stop is removed. This was done so that the needle would always be against the stop at zero. (slight preload) Only reason I know this is I used to work in the GM division that made them. I really recommend replacing the speedo. I have seen them go on Ebay rather cheap if you buy the cluster without the gauges. If you can find a speedo alone on ebay it will be relatively cheap. Bill
