I put on a new GM balancer part # 6272222. It has 2 engraved timing marks. One has 32 stamped next to it. The one without the 32 shows correct timing. Why the 2 lines?

if you have a non-dialback timing light you can check the total mechanical advance with the 32 mark?

could be a "universal" replacement that covers both timing mark placements they used over the years.

I have seen some like that. One mark is TDC, the other one is full advance. Some have marks in between as well. You read the damper instead of the pointer on the timing cover.

One groove is wider than the other???

Wider groove is for magnetic timing probe. There is a holder for the probe on many timing covers--it's the little tube-looking thing a few degrees away from the TDC mark on the timing pointer.
