Hey guys,

I need a new door latch for my 65 Elky. There is a spring or something in it that is worn out. When you shut the door firmly it just bounces back off the latch post. If you close it slow, it latches loosely until you push on the door.

I also need the new roller pins (I forget what they are called) that hold the doors open.

I have already checked Year One. They have the pin kit, but not the latch. Does any one have experience with doing these pin kits?

I did the detent rollers a while back. Its pretty easy.

I drilled out the old pins with a hand drill, but it will work a lot better with a drill press. The hardest part is drilling the hole perpendicular to the top of the hinge.

You probably will want to replace the hinge pivot pin bushings while you are at it.

I have seen latch hardware advertised in some catalogs before, don't know any specifics or if they still make them. Have you tried OPG, NPD, muscle factory? You can probably look around and find some other companys that sell parts.

If reproduction latches aren't available, try True Connections in California. They part out Chevelles regularly.

True Connections - yes, I got an air cleaner from them once. Good idea

I'm fairly sure that the Paddock and NPD both have those parts. I've had good experience with NPD, the stuff got to my house in two days (though I do live in Ohio, so it might be a little longer depending on where you are).
