I just finished wrestling the frame out of my donor 68'. I am wondering how can I measure quickly to determine if my new frame is "true", and if it is not, should I put my body back on before getting it fixed? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I would measure from any convenient hole on the frame to each suspension point. There are lots of holes to stick a tape into that you can run on both sides of the car to check for squareness.
First make sure you aren't twisting it with a bunch of odd height jack-stands. Check the heights of the suspension mounting holes first to make sure you aren't twisted, then go like, the forward section, from a hole in the top of the frame to the upper control arm mounting holes on both sides, and then the lower arm holes. Then check the middle section diagonally and then the rear. If you do get an odd measurement, make sure that the holes in the frame are the same on both sides, then check from a known good (square) section of the frame to see if the suspension mounts are off or if it is the frame section that is bent. Sometimes a whole section of the frame can be bent without moving the suspension holes. Such as where the bumper attached culd be moved over a bit without the a-arms being moved.

Easy Off is the world's BEST frame grease remover. (Check local regulations before using where the EPA might catch you)

Section 3 of the Fisher body manual shows measurements. Please e-mail me if you want information from this.
