What kind of sealer should I use to re-seal the back glass on my 67 elky. I will have it out to clean the area up and stop any rust. I just don't know if the sealer needs to be flexable or not. thanks in advance

The best for the do-it yourself'er. Is what the general used .
Factory style butyl tape 3/8 ribbon sealer. 3M makes a kit.
Most all re-pop houses have it but you should be able to get it locally
The other method is 3M Window-Weld . It's
a calking gun applied sealer/seter. IMO Not for the novice user.

The ribbon sealer is the hot set up, but it requires the application of a primer on the glass and metal surfaces to adhere.
Be sure to roll the ribbon sealer out flat around the perimeter of the glass before you stick the glass to the body. If it's too thick you'll have a heck of a time getting your window trim back on after installing the glass. Some measuring of the thickness of the original sealer would be a good idea in my opinion.
I had the local glass company come over and install mine a couple of years back. The material is still soft and flexible today.
I had a hell of a time trying to get the chrome trim back on as they didn't roll it out thin enough to start with.

I bought window "tape" at the local Advance parts store. Actually, it is round black really sticky material.
I simply cleaned the edge of the glass with rubbing alcohol, stuck the tape on evenly all around, then carefully put the glass in place (with a helper.)
It is best to try the glass for fit first and put spacers at the bottom to hold it up and centered.
Very easy actually.

I thought the primer was just to cover the bare metal thats exposed from scraping the old stuff off?

No The window seal primers is like finial-wash. I never use it, the local glass shop uses alcohol. they do 100's of glss and if it's good enough forthem it's good enough
for me.
