Guys - you know how when you upgrade one part, the one next to it starts needing attention? Well I just got my power steering box back from a fast ratio rebuild. The guy rebuilding it said there was rust inside and I should consider replacing my pump at the same time. He didn't try to sell me one, just trying save my steering box investment.
So I get a new pump from Napa (stock 67 remote reservoir type), take mine out and realize I have a GM Type II pump and brackets in the car. First thought was to break down and find SWP brackets, but I hear I run the risk of fitment headaches.
New type II pumps in Summit are $93 - but these smaller pumps had to come from some production model. Anyone know a vehicle model I can ask for at the parts counter? Thanks!

Man was it cold in the garage tonight!!!!

I believe that all of these boxes have the same bolt spacing. Some come with attached resivors and some have a seperate (remote resivor). These pumps are quite common. Turn One, or Canton Racing have these in either aluminum or cast steel. The newer Corvettes use a remote resivor.

My 502 post, after 6 1/2 years of readding a lot more than posting.

pretty much every GM vehicle from the early 90's on has used that pump. i'm not sure of what differences there are from car to car, but i have seen them on pretty much everything from 4 cylinder Grand Ams to V8 powered trucks. they might even be the same part for everything.

Derrick - I agree. I spent an hour last night on Napa's website. Most modern GM cars that I typed in had that housing pictured, but there must be some internal differences. Prices ranged from $60 - $120 for the pump.

i bet the aftermarket companies that offer that pump just use the cheapest version. i think i've read that pretty much all GM PS pumps have the same pressure and valving- but that the fittings are sometimes a little different.
does the one off your car have any part numbers stamped into it? if so, any good parts store should be able to cross reference that and either get you another pump, or sell you a $5 kit to rebuild it.
