Im doing a frame off restoration on my 71 Chevelle SS and the floor pan is in good shape in some place but has rust holes in others. So i want to replace it anyway even though i patched them up with other pieces of metal. But getting to my question. The floor pan im getting is a complete full one piece Floor pan and im ready to take the body off the frame which i will have it up in the air with no center support but the floor pan braces would it be ok to cut out the floor pan with no frame support on the body & no doors to keep the body from bending or getting out of align or should i leave it on the frame fix the floor pan then take the body off the frame.

I'm in the process of replacing the floor supports and floor pans in my Chevelle. I lifted the body to replace the supports only. Once there in, I'll place the body back onto the frame, secure it, then cut out and replace the floor. From what I've read in past postings, you always want to replace any metal while the body is on the frame. This helps to keep the metal from flexing after you removed a section of it. Since your getting a full floor pan, thats a pretty big chunk of metal you'll be taking out. I'd leave it on the frame to replace the floor.

If possible, brace your door openings and leave the body on the frame. Be really carefull to drill out all the spot welds and try to make your cuts clean. Prior to "chopping" up the old floor try to lay the new pan up in the body. Throw a couple of sandbags on top of the new floor so that it is pressed against the old floor. Then outline the new panels dimensions onto the body. (bright paint marker's work good here) From underneath verify your bolt holes (seat mounting etc.) if the holes are not on the new panel use a spray bomb and spray all the holes from underneath so everything is "templated" to the new steel. I believe the new (complete) panels from Dynacorn have all the correct bosses and holes indicated on the panel.
Hope it Helps.

I’m also replacing the trunk pan in my 70 SS http://members.cox.net/renslove70ss/trunk.htm
OPG has a 7 piece set for around 300.00. Who makes a one piece set up and how much was that?

You have to be careful what trunk pan you buy. By looking at your picturs you might want to go with the 2 piece one from NPD. The reason I say this is because of how high you cut it up at the front of the trunk floor. Some trunk pans only come to the top of this raised area at the front and the back where your trunk latch goes, there is a lip here too. So when you get ready to purchase, make sure there is enough sheet metal at the front and back or you will be piecing more sheet metal in. Good luck
