my boss has a new lexus. one day on the street, and somebody keyed it, nice three foot, to the metal, scratch down the passenger side. i filled it with touch up paint, followed directions to build it up...now, how do i knock it down, to blend with the paint? do i just use a car wax? any help, will as usual, be very much appreciated....

Wet block sand with 2,000, then buff with light compound/#1 wool pad and then polish with 3M foam pad and polishing compound.

If the color matched up good, I'd probably start by blocking it even with the surrounding paint with 1000 grit paper and a rubber block, with water. Once it's all level, move up to 1500, then 2000 paper , wet, with the same rubber block. A soft block will fold around the high spot, take more off the surrounding areas before knocking it down, so the hard rubber block will be better. Once it's all even and sanded to 2k, polish it out with rubbing compound, then swirl mark remover, either by hand or machine.
BTW, Bill, my disclaimer is in my sig line. ;) :D
