I Just Recently Purchased A 1980 Malibu. While Trying To Put Some Larger Tires Under The Rear I Noticed That While The Left Side Tire Is A Good Close Fit The Tire On The Right Side Lays Completely Against The Frame At The Front Of The Wheel Well. I Was Wondering If Anyone Else Has Experienced This Problem Before.

I've heard that often times the rears aren't perfectly centered on cars. With stock tires the acceptable tolerances (mis-alignments) are not a problem.

Sounds like for your specific car you'll need to go with a smaller tire, or rear, or find a way to adjust the one that's in there to center it.
