We are putting the fenders back on the 70 and are can't remember where those big cupped washers go. They either go in the door jamb area, on top of the cowl or into the firewall. Funny how you think you can remember this stuff.

I believe they are used on the bolts to support the underside of the inner fender.

the inner fender washers are not cupped. try to find another car to look at.

Howdy ,I just got my front back together.I bought a new bolt kit and the four big washers that came to put in the back of the fender wells(to the firewall) were indeed cupped(for some reason).The originals weren't.Does seem kinda goofy that they are cupped like that,but hey ,it worked.(hope I got em in the right spot!!)

they probably should be cupped outward to eliminate a stress point/edge that could cause the plastic fender wells to crack. thats probably why they did that.
