I did a search so I know this topic's been beaten on a time or two, but has anyone been happy recently with a repro Dash Pad? I know companies adjust/refine/perfect products on an ongoing basis so I was hoping SOME company might have gotten it "right" by now. This is for my '69 el Camino with the saddle interior. Any help is appreciated.

Wow! The number of views combined with the total lack of response seems to be a resounding NO! Sure seems like some company would make a killing if they went to the trouble of making some dash pads that actually fit right.

I am very satisfied with the replacement dash I purchased from www.dashesdirect.com (http://www.dashesdirect.com) Although it isn't the original vinyl covering, it fits very nice, and I doubt I will EVER have to change it again.

I think I saw an original '69 pad for sale in our classified section a few days ago???

Some time back - a year or so, I purchased a pad for my '72 from the vendor that starts with 'O'. I returned it the next day, saying that it was defective and didn't fit at all.. They opened up another one (different color- didn't have another one in black) and you could tell just by looking at it that it was no different. The guy said they are all the same. So I got my refund and found an original one on eBay. It will need to be recovered but at least it fits!
Why didn't I save my old one? It was a repop from 15 years ago, bought from the same 'O' vendor that fit great, and I didn't think it would be a problem to get another one!:sad:

What type of covering IS it? Looks & fits well though? My E.C. is a driver, not a show car so originality is a minor concern. I just want it to look nice, and a cracked dash that a previous owner apparently stretched a peice of vinyl over doesn't fit the bill anymore.

Call them up, I don't know what it is other than it being injection molded over the foam. Appearance is dead on to the original, and it fits like a million bucks. It's in the convertible in my sig, if that gives you any idea. I'm also going to buy one for my hardtop when I get to that point. I wanted original, but when you have to pay over 100 for something that is marginal condition at best that needs recovered at a huge expense there really isn't a question in my mind which route I'm going. Like I said, the repop I purchased fits great and looks good, no regrets here. JN

The 69 Ones seem to fit good. Put one in a 66 awhile back and that was another story. Not real impressed with it, but 69 looked and fit nice;

I bought a '71 from Original Parts Group: it fits OK but not "right" as it's a bit smaller and doesn't quiet cover the edge slots fully, but it fits. The box it came in says Dashes Direct on it, so you know who made it. However, it looks good and most non-detail oriented people say it looks great... fair price too. Never found an old one in great shape for a resonable price that didn't get bid to the moon.

BTW - no brackets come with the dash, so you have to fab something up if you want to mount speakers there...

I got one from National parts depot years ago for my 64, fit great . You can try Just Dashes for a recover but I thought they were very expensive. Be hard to get anything not made in China these days. Good Luck!

No and yes.The first one I bought for my 68 is still in a box in the garage.Very poor fit,studs too short.I then bought one from Year One after talking to the sales guy and being assured it was good quality.It fit perfectly and went in easily.I am very happy with how it looks.

Im selling the dark blue one in the classifieds right now. We got it when we bought a new interior kit after changing interior colors. I am selling it because the stock one is in great shape and we decided to keep the dash black anyways. We never tried it so I dont know about the fit.
