: Flaws in New Back Glass

Has anyone run in to this problem. Had the Back glass installed, with minor difficulties installing repop trim. In the Paint shop glass looked perfect. Than in the right outside lighting (shaded) I see these inperfections in the glass that is over whelming. In the sun, very hard to notice.
Does not look good at all. I have seen some imperfections on new car glass but nothing this bad. This is something you walk by and notice right away, and start pointing, saying look at that glass. The flaws cover all the glass. Shop I bought from claims auto city classics said there all like that
I can't be the only one with this problem. The glass is from Auto city classics. The local shop I bought it from says to come back in a week and go thru there new shipment. I would HATE to get another glass and not find any problems till its installed. Thinking LOF glass now, by Pelkington or something like that, I think the name is. Previously had bought a PPG back glass but it had the wrong curves and sent it back and got my money back. Windshield is new PPG and is Perfect. Any suggestions on who to buy from hoping for a perfect glass.??

Looks like a bonding issue between the glass and the safety film. Its not a normal thing. If the manufacturer says they are all like that, Get your money back and try PPG again.

Call Auto City Classics and email them the picture, I'll bet they will help you. I think the rear glass is tempered, at least mine is on my 68. 1.800.828.2212

This is not a one time thing with Auto City Classics. There's a reason they're cheaper. Go with Pilkington.

The 70 that I had 25 years ago looked like that! The glass was in the car when I bought it and a glass shop said it was due to the tempering process and was common on cheap replacement glass. If I remember correctly the glass was made in Brazil. Does the glass in your car have a marking stating where it was made?

Tempering problem is exactly what I heard after talking to a few manufacturers.
I have not noticed any "Made In" markings on glass.
And the worst problems of this type is from cheaply made glass. Also was told that most glass have this tempering problem, but NO wear near this bad..
Also that All the PPG back glass have the wrong curves. They bow out instead of in, and I know this for a fact as I returned a PPG back glass a few months back because of that.
I'm trying to find a Pilkington back glass local, to save the $100 shipping and possible breaking, from pilkington which told me they are all out of Green tinted back glass for 68-71 Chevelle, only have clear.
Anyone know who sells Pilkington glass??
