Finally hooked up the blower motor on this 64 today and tried it out. Super noisy. Sounds like it's hitting something inside, too. The motor sits horizontally and looks like it drops straight down to replace it. (See photo.) Might even be able to get it out without loosening the inner fender.....maybe. Anyone done this lately? Any tips for me?

If the motor flange looks like it will lift straight out go for it. The fan itself is less diameter than the flange.

been there done that. it will be a lot easier with out the inner fender!!!
the last two bolts are hidden behind inner fender really i didn't have that much trouble taking the inner fender off. you will be glad you did.
Can I just drop the rear portion of the inner fender :D , or does it have to come out entirely :( ?

on my 64 i had to pull the inner fender out. could not get enough room to pull blower with it in place. no i didn't touch the fender itself, a little tight
getting the inner fender out but if you go easy it will come out. because,
i'm not sure, but you may have to pull the blower housing to really see what is going on. :(
Wow! I'm lucky! Removed five small screws, one electrical connection and a rubber hose and the fan motor and blower practically fell straight down and out. :hurray:
Lot's of pine needles, etc. Need to get a shop vac hose up in there now and suck anything else out of the housing. Emptied the debris out of blower, bench tested it and it's quiet and strong.

By the way, pull off your right side kick panel and vacuum in there also. I found leaves and all kinds of stuff in mine,,,, ('65) and soggy soaking leaves lead to rust.
