It would be used for all the pieces and parts typically covered in rust and/or paint from a 32 year old velle. I did a web search and found TP and Eastwood carry a couple of bench units for $250 - $300, along with good old e-bay for around $100.
Problem though is that I think my compressor won't do the trick. Single stage, 5 HP, 20 gallon rated at 6 SCFM @ 90lbs.
Any thoughts?
Even how about those litte hand held units...waste of time and money? I even saw Cambell Hausfeld (sp?) the compressor guys make a simple siphon attachment type unit for $20.

Your life will be better with the biggest compressor you can get.
I like the pressure pot style blasters. Should be around $100 for one.

That compressor wont even come close....To run a bench blaster of any size will probably take around 15 to 18 cfm of air @ 90psi. If you want run it for a lenghty time...
I built mine from the TP plans/kit...One of the best investments....

I figured the compressor would be a bit on the inedequate side. However, is it a case that it would be cycling too much..ie. I could only get a "blast" for say 15 seconds that would be any good before it would run out of any usable blasting force. If that is the case, I could possibly get by for now and then upgrade to a bigger compressor.

Honestly it really isn't worth it in most cases. I have one and even when the compressor is up to duty the nozzle size is soo small it becomes a tremendous chore. Plan on doing small parts in it, I did my A-arms and about lost my mind. I took the springs to my guy at the blaster. If you are doing things the size of your fist or smaller you might be ok, but it is still an arduous task. Just my take on it, the guys at the blaster have a nozzle thats got to be 1.5" in diameter, it takes them all of 2 minutes to do what took me hours and hours.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback guys...what promptd me to look in to this route is that I too was looking to do my a-arms!!....guess I'll be sending them out, or at least getting a bigger compressor.

I look at doing my wheel wells and think about how long the compressor runs. My cabinet is big enough but single stage compressor isn't.

TP is the way to go. Buy one from them, and conect the air line and blast away.

Freddie...what size compressor are you using and what model number from TP?
