Ha guys i need some advice on a motor i might get for a project.

Its a 99 5.0L chevy out of a van with 70K on it still has good oil presure and besides this problem runs good.

It keeps eating through dist. drive gears. They have changed the gear twice, and even changed the dist. and it hasent helped.

My thought was that the cams bad, wigh is no problem becouse if i get it i will be changing it any way.

I was just wondering what else it could be and what i should look for?

pass on the 305. they are not performance motors ! i have a 305 in my 93 cargo van, and it's pretty lazy. get a 350 ci or bigger engine. 350's are a dime a dozen ,but are a way way better engine than a 305.
