Guys, When I took the rear 1/4 window chrome pieces off my 72, they were held in place with a plastic insert that was pressed on the window that deteriorated when I removed them. Is there any other type of ahesive to use to reinstall these, or will I have to try and find the origional pieces? I was thinking of maybe 3M black weatherstrip adhesive? TIA for any ideas, Dennis

Dennis...I just installed my 1/4 glass today. I went to a local glass shop and the owner gave me 3 feet of a fairly thin rubber. It's about an inch wide. It's sold in rolls to glass shops. I draped it over the edge of the glass, tapped the chrome on with a rubber mallet and trimed it with a razor blade. You can also glue them in with silicone, but I was going for the factory look. Worked fine. Any glass shop will have it...
It's called butyl tape. Non sticky. Use mineral spirits for lubricant. A little messy but works.(got this method from an "old timer" at a glass shop)

Thanks guys. I found a small local auto glass co. here today that gave me a 4' piece of the proper material at no charge. smile.gif Not only that, but I found that they charge $30 less for a windshield & install then the major companys have quoted me. Thanks again, Dennis
