On a whim the other night I ordered a DVD called Funny Car Summer. I was ordering some books and if I ordered a few bucks more I could get free shipping (yep, I fell for their marketing ploy) so I found that DVD for a few bucks and ordered it.

Has anyone seen it and if so what was your impression? For those not familiar with it, Funny Car Summer is about Funny Car drag racing in the early 1970's.

I believe it follows Jim Dunn when he campaigned a rear engine funny car.
There is a scene where his roof hatch blows off. It happened at OCIR and I was there to see it happen live.

Watched it a few weeks ago. Interesting to see how far the funny car has come. Not on my top ten documentaries, but interesting to watch. Might be more interesting if you were actually alive during that time period (not me).

Ouch! I saw Funny Car Summer at the Kvon drive-in when I was in high school. That drive in looked like a car show! Great movie if you like vintage drag racing.

Great movie. I saw it in the late 70's at an ISCA World of Wheels car show. At the time it was a very neat movie. As was said, if you are into vintage drag racing, it is a "got to see" movie.
