I want to clean the adhesive that was left from the underlayment/rubber pieces that sit under the carpet. They have left some serious adhesive residue, and I need to do a little welding on the floor, plus lay down some new seam sealer in a couple of spots. I was going to use a wire brush on my grinder to clean the adhesive, but it just melts it and pushes it around. I also thought about using Goof off but it is pretty flamable. Any thoughts, or suggestions I would really appreciate.

Mineral Spirts, it to is flamable but it will loosen the glue after it sits a bit and will not attack anything else.

I always found WD40 is an excellant cleaner. It is flammable though.

Should I be afraid of using a flamable substance, and later turning my car into a ball of flames.
