i used wheaterstrip adheasive. but you can use r.t.v. as well.you are only gluing plastic to metal. so almost anything will work.

From the factory, the water-shields were held in place with a non-hardening strip of putty, so they could be removed and reinstalled for inner door repairs. What you use would depend on whether or not your gonna want to remove them in one piece. I use a non-hardening silicone, I found in Loews.

If you don't care about being able to remove them, you can use pretty much any kind of glue as was said above.

I've used 3M Strip Caulk. Works great and the shield can be removed in case you forgot to do something, like I did.

Where do you get the 3M strip caulk?

I also used the 3M strip caulk. Any auto paint supply that carries 3m products should have it.

Some people call it rope caulk too. It can also be found at places like Menards and Home Depot.

Here's a pic of the box. I also use it under loose trim molding like that corner piece on my drip rail trim.

I use windshield buytl tape. Stretch it until it becomes about 1/8" in diameter. Stick it on the door and attach your water shields. If you don't have the paper shields just use heavy plastic and trim with a razor blade.

In a pinch, I've even used a few small sections of double faced carpet tape.

Plumbers putty also works well.

I use 3M bedding and glazing compound, comes in a caulking tube, just like any silicone calk. It is available at autobody supply store. It is black and squeezes out nice.Stays soft and plyable even after years, yet it sticks like glue. I have the 3M strip caulk also. It will work too, but it is not as soft and as easy to work with on watershields.
