Hello
How much clearence should i have between the oil pan and crossmember?
The car is a 67 chevelle with a 454 BB with energy suspension motor mounts and a canton racing oil pan...it is just 1 cm clearence now...
How can i lift the engine higher up?

what i did with my 69 nova was to put 3 thick washers between motor&motormounts-also solid mounts help a little but ya have to watch header to steering shaft clearance-hope that helps

whats a centimeter?....seriously, they get very close, especially after market pans, alot of people would be thrilled to get 1cm, if it doesnt hit the crossmember its fine, im not sure but i think under a torque load the gap will actually increase, or at least remain the same, especially with poly mounts...good luck

Thanks for the answer.. If i make a spacer between the frame an frame brackets i will get 1,5 cm (0,6 inhes) clearence..
That should be ok?

 Be sure to check your fan to shroud clearance before starting the engine, if you are running a shroud.

I believe those supports were made to sit tight flush on the cross member for better support

Spacers will move the mounts and make it very hard to line up with the engine. Plus, could weaken things. 1/2" is plenty of clearance. I.ve got less than 1/4" on my pan and never had a problem.
