Im going to be buying a 1970 Chevelle SS in about a week or so, and I was interested in getting a 4 point harness for the drivers seat. I dont work / know much about cars, so I was wondering if this would require welding and drilling, or if it would be easier. If I am being to vauge, just let me know and I will come back with more info when I go to pick it up.-Thanks

To properly install a 4-point harness, you need to install a roll bar with a cross-bar and mount the shoulder harnesses to , or a seat designed for 4-point harnesses...
The upper shoulder belts should be mounted so they are at about the same level as your shoulders...
IF you just mounted the shoulder belts to the floor, then in a SEVERE accident, instead of just holding you back in your seat (as they are intended to do), they would still allow you to fold forward, while at the same time compressing your spine... I have heard that improper installation of 3 and 4-point harnesses can be more harmful that 2 point belts...
I think you could mount the belts to the floor, IF you have a way to keep the belts OVER the seat back AND keep the seat back from flipping forward (essentially keeping the belts above your shoulders). Even if you could fabricate a bracket for your stock seats, would the factory back latch be sufficient???
