Guys,
I finished up most of the body work on my car last October and decided to go ahead and drop the motor in. Well the dragstrip was calling after several years of downtime. Needless to say, it's still wearing primer. It's time to paint it. I have a few ideas for colors, but am looking for some input.
The goal of the car is to run 10's on the motor, 9's on the spray, and look darn good doing it. It will also be street driven just about every weekend the weather is nice.
Here are some details:
'71 Malibu 2dr coupe.
Sandalwood interior
4" Glasstek cowl hood
15x4 Convo Pro's on Front
15x8.5 Convo Pro's on Back
All chrome will be stripped and painted black or powder coated black.
Here are the choices, but feel free to suggest others.
All black. Probably 1st choice since it will be quicker and easier since there won't be the stripe layout/spraying.
Emerald Green Metallic with black SS stripes.
It just so happens my truck(tow vehicle) is this color.
Silver with black SS stripes (Not too sure how it will look with the sandalwood interior??? - Was this a possibilty in '71?)
A dark metallic maroon with black SS stripes.
I will be spraying a base/clear and am going to rent a booth and do it myself(I think). Graphics/flames etc. are not an option for this novice.
Thanks,
