Who has some good replacement panels?
I need to buy a fender, some patch panels, and either a quarter skin or a whole quarter and am debating Year One or NPD since they are both 4-5 hours from me and I can avoid shipping charges.

Any experience with their Replacement steel?

I am guessing Year One probably sells goodmark, since they are practically neighbors, But do not know about NPD.

I'm not sure but I don't think NPD or Year One have Goodmark - not sure. Go to www.goodmarkindustries.com (http://www.goodmarkindustries.com) and look up authorized distributors. Most of the time you can get the parts cheaper at a dealer than through a place like NPD.

I bought a left and right quarter from NPD for my 71 and they fit great. They are goodmark. Like anything with that many curves and creases, you can expect to do some fitting. Overall I am satisfied with them.

Here's how you can save on the shipping and 4 to 8 hours of your time. Wait until you can place you order for $300 or more from NPD and get free shipping and NO TAXES (which you will pay if you pick it up). I purchased both quarters, an entire tunk kit, a hood, and several other panels from NPD and paid $28 total shipping to my door in Virginia in perfect condition in 5 days. And they fit well.

I'm not shilling for NPD but I couldn't have walked in and bought the parts cheaper due to taxes on the over-the-counter sale. Ever tried hauling a hood and full quarters without damaging them?

I've played the "how to save on shipping" game and sometimes it's just not worth it. Where you get killed on shipping is ordering a single $20 or $50 part from anybody. Even then, sometimes it's cheaper to let them ship it. If you need a bunch of stuff, save up and order it at once from any of the major houses. Most offer the same deal. Just be sure to call them and get a quote of total cost, including shipping BEFORE placing your order.

The Free shipping is a Cool Deal.. Except I am under the impressing Large Item.. like 1/4 etc 9 OVERSIZE) are exempt ??

And NPD and Year one have Goodmark panels..

I've used Goodmark's cowl induction hood, both fenders, and door skins and they all fit reasonably well - considering they're made in Taiwan. If you pick the item up make sure you inspect them first, sometimes you can find a defect and get another one that is in better condition - one advantage of going to pick them up.

I was also under the impression that the Oversize items were Exempt from the No shipping charge..... If I can get free shipping with the large Items you can be assured I would not drive to pick them up!
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Deadcarny,
It is a mess. Obviously more than I originally thought. I just finished the trunk pan and tail panel area. Have to replace the right quarter yet and do the roof. Hopefully in the next month or so I will be done with the major body repair work. Then I will start the chassis.

By the way I went over to West Virginia to pick up a rearend and swung down to NPD in Charlotte. I picked up 2 quarters, trunk pan and braces and 1 door. The only reason I got one door was because I inspected 5 of them and they were all damaged. I ended up with one right door. So inspecting them saved me a ton of back and fourth shipping time.

thanks

We're in the process of installing 69 quarters from Ground Up and I would NOT recommend them until some more tweaking is done by the company. We've had lots of problems and will be contacting Ground Up with suggestions. We've owned/restored many 69 Chevelle's over the years and never had problems like this.

Thanks again guys!

Anybody know anything about VFN's 'glass fenders (I am going to use their 4" Cowl hood)? If they line up well and install as original I would even think of those...HMMMMM...try to get some of that weight of the front of the car you know..LOL...

Has anyone seen or used the factory style 1/4's from Ground up? I see them on their website for 439. Goodmark keeps back pedaling on the available date for theirs. And I need one soon....

keithb,
did you ever get an answer to your dynacorn question? after reading the boards about all the trouble folks are having with goodmarks inner fenders, I thought I would give dynacorn a call. I noticed in the super chevy rag that they are pitching a complete '69 camaro body... just imagine, one day there will be even more Z-28 Camaro converts running around...
I called dynacorn over in arlington, tx and discussed their product vs. goodmark. james stated that it is all made in taiwan. he said they have had no complaints about their steel. better dies and machinery. he works for dynacorn so i would expect him to say that..
I then called one of their listed dealers to check prices on stuff. the parts guy at southwest classic chevy stated they stopped selling goodmark sometime ago because of quality. So I'm looking for references also...

I put Dynacorn on our 70 - both rear 1/4's and the outer wells.
Fit was fine, quality good...

dittoz,
price wise, where did the dyna corn product fall? higher the goodmark, lower, or the same. I want to find a seller out side of texas or at least one that won't hose me...

As I recall - they were about the same.
I bought them locally here in Sacramento (walked in)
and I think for the 3/4 size panel they were about $350 or so...

www.chevylandparts is where I go for this stuff. (Page 137 of their catalog)

You might also try www.jimdyerchevyclassics.com
I bought my whole interior through them and their service is AWESOME!
