I have a ls6 crate engine and it has closed chamberd pistons and open chamberd heads that make 10.2:1 comp.I want to get more comp.So would it be easier to put closed heads on or get bigger slugs.and what closed head will fit the stock 11.0:1 closed pistons. This engines bottom end is stock.

Are you sure that's what your c/r is now?? You have to know for sure so you have an accurate starting point. What heads are on it now? (casting #) I would change the heads if you dont want to pull the block apart. 063's, 215's, 290's, 206, 702,390, 802...all are closed chamber, oval ports. The first three are probably the easiest to find, but all are pretty much the same. John

Something else isnt right....you shouldnt need more than 93 octane in a 10/1 engine.

Mill the open chambers and go with a .022 gasket. As long as the P/V clearance is ok,the open chamber will breath better than the bathtub.

I have 200 psi cranking compression (I run a measured 10.59 to 1 compression) and I have no problems with 93 octane in my 454 with a tiny 223/231 @.050 cam
Why do you need more compression??

the motor is in a racecar and want to go faster.Thinking of stripping the car to lose weight.http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h210/ejf77/?action=view¤t=Untitled_0001.flv
