Entire track is up for auction. Owners tired of running it.

They've tried to sell it a few times over that past few years but didn't have much luck. I guess they've finally had enough with it. That really suck for the locals. It was a nice track to run at.

Really. Puts the Super Nats in the crapper and all! A lot of racers now without a track! I guess Thompson will pick up the slack. Norwalk and Dragway 42 are a pretty good haul for a lot of them. Howza guy in Wa familiar with QCR?

I dont see it as closing as its really too nice of a place, just new ownership coming in. From what I heard if it doesnt sell at auction then it will be open for only special events and not a weekly program, dont really know how that will go over. Hopefully someone will come up with the bucks to really run it.

I agree, they have done a lot of really nice improvements over the last few years. It is also in a bad location for housing. It is located right between a landfill and 2 junk yards.

The second picture is from about 1983 from inside the old tower.

They are building a new track in Mansfield next to the Mansfield Speedway i was told. Anybody ever ran at the old Magnolia 1/4 mile track...? The track is now a 1/8 mile track. I live about 10 miles from it. Its a cool little track out in the woods not far off oll RT-800. There is a web site for it and ill look for it and post it later. Its been around for while. It was closed for a while years ago and reopened.

I was at Magnolia in the summer of 72. A buddy had a 70 Maverick gasser running a SBF with Gapp & Rousch heads- brand new, 1st run on the motor with those heads...sucked a valve and destroyed one of them! Busted my toe loading the car, then a 2.5 hour trip back home. Not a good night-but a great memory!

Its a totally unbelieveable situation. This is one real nice facility that just needs a owner that knows how to run a track or hire some one that can.

I ran at Salem when they used 12-V car headlites mounted on poles to lite the track. Dick Mossie was the org. owner. I ran a Red 38 Chev. Cp. C/Gas. I have 8-MM movies (now on VHS) from Early 60s. We had a club called the Rev-Masters from New Brighton Pa. Some fast cars back then, Rays-Blue 50 Chev 4 Dr.--Pappy Tackets-58 Del rey--Baggys-36 ford--Dave Koffels 48 packard 4 Dr.- Arlen Vanke-Tin Indian, and a guy that drove a Blue 57 Chev. Hdt. from Clev. that would hop up and down in the seat as he went down the track. That guy was Joe Hudrucka most of us know him now as Mr. Gasket.
All good things must come to an end. So Sad..... But a lot of good memories. I lived in Monaca, Pa. in that era. Now I live in Jeannette, Pa. AND I still Play with cars. 70 SS 454 -Red sta. wgn.(driver) 70 SS 454 M-22 El Camino that I ordered from Sahli Chevrolet in Beaver,Falls Pa. in Feb. 70. (tlr. queen) And yes I am and old GEESER ----I invented DIRT.

Quaker Drag Strip north of Salem Oh went on the auction block Saturday with no buyers. They had set a reserve of one million and according to the paper got one offer of 1.1 million which was refused. There were supose to be three local business men interested but evidently not enought.
The present owner wanted to sell the whole parcel so it could remand a drag strip. The paper says it's closed and there will be another auction to sell it off in parcels and then become an industrial park.
We could defintely use a industrial park for the jobs that it would create but let put it somewhere else.
I live 6 miles from the strip and can sit on my porch and listen to them run. Been going there since 1959.
