I'd like to remove the vent window assemblies on my 67SS. Can these be removed without taking the glass out. It appears that there are three attachment points and looks like it would pull right out the top, but I don't wish to take the glass out. Anyone removed these on there cars?
Thanks, Mike M22

Mike. I am not sure I understand you completely. You want to take the vent window assemblies out without removing the side window? I.m.o. this is not possible. I have 2 pictures of the 66 setup on my web page http://www.si.hhs.nl/~rob/images/html_album/page_26.htm The front run channel of the side window is the rear pillar of the vent window.
If you want to remove the vent window frame you will need to remove the whole assembly first and then remove the lower rail. The vent window glass can stay in.

Sorry! I should have been more specific. I want to remove the whole vent window asembly without removing the door glass. I did'nt know if removing the vent window assembly which has the door glass channel attached to it would cause any problems with the door glass itself. Can I still bring the windowup and down with the vent window assembly off? Thanks, Mike M22

It only takes a few minutes to get the side window glass out. just 4 or 5 bolts across the bottom of the glass (at least thats the way it is on my 65).
The front vent assembly tilt adjustment rod thingy has to be moved rearward to clear the door shell before the assembly can be lifted out. This requires the side glass to be out. I have done it 4 or 5 times and can get the vent assembly out in about 20 minutes from popping the door handle off.
The only thing to be careful of is not moving the vent window rake (forward tilt) and side (in/out) tilt adjuster screws when you are removing it. If you move them you might have to do some readjusting when you re-install the assembly.
