Hello,

I just picked up "Busch" Light Duty Aluminum Wash and Polish at a swap meet. Works great on my polished Centerline wheels.

Over the years I have used many polishes (Mothers, Weynol, Blue Magic, Never Dull, etc.) to keep the wheels looking good, but apparently some oxidation does form. The wheels always shined great but seemed to have a silght white haze. No more!

I sprayed the Light Duty Wash on (it is designed for polished aluminum in great shape), let it foam up, then rinsed it off with water. Next I used a clean cloth and the Polish. It goes on easy and comes off easy.

As a test, I did 1/2 of a wheel with the wash and polish, and the other 1/2 with just the polish. You could see the difference. The wash and pollsh side had a much better shine.

Busch # is 704-878-2067. I really like this stuff. The other polishes I have used in the past worked well, but apparently using a wash then a polish is what really made the difference this time. There are probably other washes on the market that will provide great results when used with a good polish.

Good luck....Joe.

Are you sure you didn't just spray your wheels with Busch lite? When ever I spill that stuff it foams a little too http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif And if you use enough of it, everything is sparkly.
Personally I use Mothers but will look for the Busch. Thanks for the recommendation.

Doug....

HA HA LOL! Good one. I didn't think of that. Perhaps it was the Anheuser Busch that did the trick! Everything was sparkly!

Back to the polishes....all of the polishes I have used worked very well. The Aluminum Wash is what made the difference. Even though the wheels always shined, seems some oxidation must have formed. I used the Light Duty Wash. They also sell heavy duty washes, but the rep told me these would be too strong for highly polished wheels/aluminum that are in great shape.

I have not seen Busch in the stores. You can call them at the # in my first reply. They make a ton of products to care for your car and aluminum.

Now...back to Anheuser Busch! ....Joe

I had a set of forged aluminum wheels professionally polished by a wheel restoration company and they turned out like chrome. The polish they recommended for maintenance is called Flitz, and I've used it with good results. It definitely gives a more chrome-like finish and is less abrasive than Semichrome Polish (my prior favorite). I am going to try some of the Busch stuff mentioned above when I can find it. It seems to be popular with the 'Vette set.

I've seen the Flitz somewhere before and might give it a try when I find it again. I will definately try Busch if I find it.
I've used Semichrome on some highly polished brass before. The Semichrome actually scratched the surface and I lost shine. Of course this was on a softer base metal.

Do a search on my name in the Bench racing forum from last week-

A local guy recomended some stuff called heavy metal polish- i ran out and picked some up and it is AMAZING. My polished centerlines look better than new now- just like chrome.

I had to go to a local tire shop to get it, and the stuff was about $10 for the little bottle, but well worth it... Its still a reletivly new product, so i imagine it will start appearing more and more cause it rocks!

I am the guy who recommended it and I bought a case of the Heavy Metal white. I have polished even my aluminized exhaust pipes by hand in about 3 hours with this stuff. It comes in 3 grits red, green and white. It took less than a bottle of each to do the pipes, rims, exhaust tips and bumpers the first time and now I just use white. Les Shwaub Tire Co. carries this product.

I have done a lot of Corvette shows and everyone who borrows my bottle at a show goes out and buys it later.........
