On my '65 Malibu SS the original dash has yellow turn signal indicators. On a replacement dash for a non-SS it has green indicators. Hmmmm. Was this a noted difference between the two trim levels? Anything else I should look out for when fixing up the dash and sharing parts between donors?
Tom
Maybe your originals are faded.

Appreciate all the replies.....
Faded yellow? Hmmm, could be. I have taken apart the donor dash bezel and those signal lenses are just a thin flat green chip. The whole bezel was faded pretty much, but was in good structural condition. The 'chips' were still a nice green color even though the bezel and gauge lenses took a beating from the sun. Now I haven't taken apart my original, but they produce a distinct amber yellow color when the directionals are on and that bezel doesn't have overall fade issues. (just radio hole and cigarette burn issues)
I'm not ready to remove and disassemble the original bezel, was planning on waiting until I have the donor one all prettied up, painted and all.
This is a Framingham built car - were the dashes produced in one plant or by various subcontractors? Again, I could have a strangely faded set of chips since I haven't taken that one apart. Anyone experience fading like that, or know if Chevy ever varied the color?
Thanks,
Tom

All right then,
Bet I DO have a fade problem. Did you find the blinker chips aftermarket?
Nice photo array on the yellow beast by the way....
