can anyone recommend a decent compressor and spray gun to do my car (as well as my sister's and friend's) with? for the gun, i'm looking at $100-$150 or less, and the compressor, $400 or less.....

One of the sharpe platnium series guns requires alot less air(cfm) then most of the other brands
I think around 8 instead of 13-15 cfm. That would probably be your best bet as you should be able to find a compressor that will supply that easily for around 300 bucks.

Around here you can get the big 60 gallon compressor for a little over 350. You may have to get Lowes or Home Depot to price match Wal-Mart to get it down that low, but it can be done. That compressor will run the Sharpe Platinum without any trouble at all.
