I have some rusted thru areas where the trunk floor transitions to the rear wheel well (both sides). I am wanting to patch these areas. Has anyone used the POR-15 Power mesh reinforcing fabric to repair an area like this. The gaps (holes)are approx. 1" wide and about 6" long. Thanks for any suggestions.

I saw where a friend used it on the floor pans but the holes were smaller (~ 1/4" dia.). I was impressed with it for that application. Being a welder, I would suggest for the bigger holes a quick patch with steel and then seam sealer, Por Putty, or even the mesh over a crude steel patch. If you don't have a welder then rivet it in.

StreetRodder (mag) did an article repairing a '40 Ford dash in that manner. After it was finished, looked new. I don't have any idea how it would survive with any loads or twisting though.

I used the power mesh on the floor of one of my Chevelles with those dimentions, but I coated the area (FIRST) with por-15 silver,(SECOND) after first coat was dry I applied a second coat of silver and while it was still wet I layed down my previously cut out power mesh into the wet silver and immediately brushed on more silver (saturated the mesh) and let it dry till next day. (THIRD) Next day applied the POR-15 Epoxy Putty (follow instructions with product) smoothed the putty out with my fingers by using a spray bottle of water to spray a little water on my fingers so I could smooth it out really smooth. Then let dry till next day.You can then sand it if you wish or leave it as so .(FOURTH) I applied another coat of POR-15 Silver over entire floor. It really turned out nice. Sorry I dont have any pics. set up to display yet. Note!!! BE SURE TO WEAR A SUITABLE RESPIRATOR AND LATEX GLOVES WHEN APPLING THE POR-15 PAINTS (SILVER BLACKS,ETC.)
