Okay, Heres the deal. I've got a multi colored 71 Chevy longbed as a tow vehicle. Now I personally think it gives it personality but the better half doesn't agree. So I decided to Primer the whole truck. Unfortunately I've never successfully painted a thing in my life. Where do I start ?
What kind of primer? What is an etching primer? Air sprayer, rattle can or ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

Well.. Depends on what you want too do.. Is Macco an option?? I mean if it's your beater and you don't care at least it'll be all one color http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Otherwise I would at least feather all those rough edges and spray it with a good Primer w/ pro equipment.. Rattle cans won't last long IMHO.. Now if you want too do it RIGHT then you gotta get rid of most of that paint.. Good Luck

As Normie stated it all depends on what you want in the end and what's under all the other primers/paint. Etching primers were orig designed to be sprayed on bare alum./steel. Now, I've seen "etch" sprayed on everything. If you just want to cover up (all one color) you can't go wrong with an epoxy primer. Gun sprayed, two part, of course, stay away from the " spray-bomb" kind if you want it to last and esp. if you plan on topcoating. just my 2 pennys worth.

Id go for the macco $199 special.but if you want to keep it cheap, try white krylon. We painted my friends beater with it and it looked ok.dont use black or a dark color.

Its just a beater. All I want to do is make it one color.

Sprya Bomb is pre-mixed and you just use it (as far as I know never used one).. I would recommend the 2 part (basically comes in two cans.. mix as required and it "Sets Up") then you spray it from "Professional" equipment.. This is the way I would go..
