I have have my car in parts (fenders, hood, trunk, front/rear bumpers are off the car) Is it a good idea to paint in pieces and install them after they have been painted. I'm worry because my car sits so low to the groung that the ground effects will not get painted to its full potential while on the car. Plus I think you will have a better paint job by painting in parts because less chances off not getting the paint to hit at every angle and location.
What are the Pro's and Con's of doing the parts in pieces. I know that you will take a chance of getting a parts scratch while installing but the Pro's have to outweight the Con's. What seem to work the best. My whole body have been strip to the metal, so the paint must cover all parts.

I prefer to paint the body as a complete assembly especially metalics. You can paint the ground effects seperately along with the spoiler, mirrors, etc. If the color is a solid color paint it in pieces but make absolutely sure that full coverage is obtained and you use the same paint mix batch for all panels. The only way IMO to make a metalic match when panel painted in pieces is to spray all panels at the same time with the same gun and have them positioned or hung the same as installed on the car so the metalics lay right. In other words if you spray the hood hanging vertically then install it on the car in it's natural horizontal position chances are very good that the paint will not match the adjacent panels. Time spent properly masking the vehicle is time saved fixing overspray messes when painting complete. Painting the car complete is the way I like to do it. Maybe we should hit on candy colors?

I would like to paint it solid black with a few coats of clear (3-5) to present the so call "Wet Look".

Whats worry me the most by putting all the pieces together their will be places that will not be painted, now that the car is virtually strip it can be painted and all areas will get covered. I will not be doing the actual painting, but wants to do the final assembly of all the parts, if it does not cause flaws in the paint by having it in pieces. Just want to ensure that I have a nice custom paint finish when the job is done.

You can paint it apart, you better just make DARN sure all parts fit perfect prior to painting. If you have bought ANY new parts and think they don't need to be bolted up COMPLETLY for a trial fit, you are dead wrong.

It really comes down to your skills. If you can get help and you are pretty good at this stuff bolting it together is not a problem. However, with anyone who is a home hobbyest, I say jamb it good, get all those edges you are talking about. Then bolt it together and paint it complete.
