hey guys, ive got a couple of questions im sure someone can help me with: what type of sealant did they use to seal the blower motor and heater core housing to the firewall? second, what type of black do i paint the firewall? ive got a gal. of gm resto black i believe from yo1. would that do? one more for yas,the ss resto gude often mentions 70 or 60 % black for stuff, anyone know what this means? thanks for the help!!

3M strip caulk or any brand for that matter will work for sealer on the housing. The GM recon will also work for your firewall. You can also use DP-90 or mix some flattener in black to get the desired look you want.

Plumber's putty also works great to seal the blower cover. Be careful about reading too much into the percent of gloss. 60% is too much gloss for a firewall ... the GM recon should be just right. I had my firewall and inner fenders professionally painted this time and although it looks nice it came out about 60% which is technically not correct.

I've heard that the GM reconditioning paint has too much gloss for any of the parts that were originally semi-gloss. When I go to paint mine, I plan on using Eastwood's semi-gloss black. You might also want to note the locations of the factory markings, and if you don't want to duplicate them, just write them down and keep them handy if you ever decide to.

You can buy black enamel paint and flattening agent they can give you a mixing chart Example= Delstar paints would be flat/ 25oz and 30deg would be 13oz and 60deg is 8oz these are oz. to quart ratios
