: Hey You in Everett, Wa.
flink69SS Jan 29th, 07, 2:29 PM I have been seeing quite a few Chevelles running around the Everett area lately and wonder if any of them are you guys. 1 blue '68, 2 butternut '68's, 2 different blue '70's with stripes and a very nice Silver '70 (maybe '71) with stripes. Catch ya later...
flink69SS Jan 31st, 07, 2:20 PM I guess none of those Chevelle owners running around are hip to this site. I think I'll stop them and tell em what they're missing...:D

That's what I do !
RAMBO Jan 31st, 07, 4:43 PM hey, I would have replied, but the elky got dissed last time I responded to one of these ;)
justkyle Jan 31st, 07, 5:42 PM Im in Puyallup, Thats not even close to Everett. But it is Washington State.
flink69SS Jan 31st, 07, 5:52 PM hey, I would have replied, but the elky got dissed last time I responded to one of these ;)
I wouldn't pick on El Caminos if I didn't love em' too...:)
I did get the 468 running and should be out terrorizing the neighborhood this weekend...
flink69SS Feb 6th, 07, 12:20 PM So I see there were 2 new ones this weekend...a Cherry Red '71 w/white stripes and a nice but rough blue '70 w/black stripes. They just keep coming out of the woodwork. My son thinks I should organize a local Chevelle Club... It might me worth a thought.
66 Buick Special Feb 6th, 07, 2:32 PM I saw a very nice '70-72 in Lynnwood a couple months back with a very nice color combination.. Dark Green/Black Vinyl top, and blonde seat cover! :D
I've been seeing a orangish/red 70-72 on the Woodinville/Duvall road on the way home from work everyday the last week or two. Paints a little rough but looks fairly clean.
Two Saturdays ago I did a drive-by at the Clearview Cruise in the Buick.
There was only a couple of cars there. I know its still a bit cold and gets dark to early but I couldn't help myself!

Frank- I've had the same thought myself. There is a Chevelle/ElCamino club in everett- I still sort of belong to it- but it really didn't go the direction I wanted to (you know its a bad sign when members don't even drive their cars to the meetings).
I find myself more into cruising in the summer time (2 or 3 hour, short, back road trips around the area) and have thought about trying to peice together an informal group.. I'd be interested if a new chevelle club was being formed too... let me know if you do any more with it.

Greg you have to swing by my place next time you cruise up there! Been so cold I havn't spent much time in the garage, but my new gas tank should be here soon to get me back on the road.
last fall i noticed another chevelle in my neighborhood. Guy right on the corner of 35th & 168th has a beautiful Hugger Orange 69 SS w/ black hood stripes. I passed him on the street once, and saw it in his garage with the door open once, but havn't seen it since. I may have to make a stop in if I see the door open again.

Why would someone belong if they don't even drive their cars...:clonk: :clonk: :clonk:
RAMBO Feb 6th, 07, 5:16 PM Its what happens when a club gets old and no new life gets injected. From what i could see, it felt like the club was all about the business of being a club, rather than being about the cars. I stepped away 3 years ago due to a lot of internal politicing, and some of my own issues at that time.
Not saying these people don't like their cars- but i think they lost sight of what a car club is supposed to be.
66 Buick Special Feb 6th, 07, 9:58 PM Ben, I thought about calling you when I was over your way.
I can't wait for a few more degrees of heat and an hour or two more of daylight.
I still have to figure out my dashlights and mount my lic. plate light to be 100% legal.
See you soon!
flink69SS Feb 7th, 07, 1:10 AM Well I guess we have it...A Chevelle, an El Camino and 1 Buick...I think we're on to something...:D :D :D
RAMBO Feb 7th, 07, 3:04 AM So Frank, are you going to see what that 500hp Mill will do this summer?
I plan to hit the 1/8 mile Friday night drags at monroe a bunch this summer and make at least one or two trips down to auburn to run the 1/4 at pacific raceway...
We're gonna have to set up a couple of TC night's at the drags this year. I got the car ready now.
flink69SS Feb 7th, 07, 12:09 PM Ben- I'll see what my Chevelle will do EVERYTIME I pull up next to some numnuts with a wing and an oversized pipe. Unfortunately with 3.31's, I don't think it would do too well in the 1/8 mile...:noway:
If we get a couple hours of sunshine this weekend, Ill take it out and see if my fan belt will stay on over 5k. See you around.
66 Buick Special Feb 7th, 07, 5:05 PM Maybe it's just me but...
"Well I guess we have it...A Chevelle, an El Camino and 1 Buick...I think we're on to something... "
This could either be the start of the old "three guys walked into a bar..." joke,
Or a gearheads version of "one bourbon, one scotch, and one beer" :D
gilby246 Feb 7th, 07, 7:07 PM I drive around the Shoreline/Lynwood/Brier and Bothel area. ...Midnight blue 70 chevelle...

Hat's off to all the work you put into your car, it looks great. Where's the sun, we need to make a run...
66 Buick Special Feb 7th, 07, 9:07 PM Hey Gilby! Look forward to seeing you around this summer!
I'll be the one rolling the flat black buick...:boring:
gilby246 Feb 7th, 07, 10:19 PM do they still do that friday night cruise in up at taco bell (or where ever it is) up there off of HWY99?
BTW- COOL CAR
66 Buick Special Feb 7th, 07, 10:29 PM Yep they still cruise Friday at Taco Time and Saturday nights at the Clearview Albertsons parking lot alongside of McDonalds.
Hope to see you up there!
Greg
66SSFan Feb 7th, 07, 11:08 PM I live right down the road from Ben and have been working on my '70 everyday. Drove around everett with it on sunday. I'm into a local chevelle club and a buick, sounds good.

First decent sunny friday or saturday I hope to be heading up to Lynwood
66 Buick Special Feb 8th, 07, 12:55 AM 66SSFan,
Nice pair of Chevelles!
What next? A '64 or a '68??? :D
Look forward to seeing those two soon!
blumax72 Feb 8th, 07, 3:39 AM Im in Marysville with a 68 Malibu. Just waiting for no rain.:beers:
66 Buick Special Feb 8th, 07, 11:01 AM Sounds like we'll have quite a few cars to get together this summer!
I've put tires on the Buick already this month and am starting to piece my interior together.
Ben, I finally bought that adapter plate you were telling me about to get a few more bolts into my bellhousing. I'm just waiting on warm weather to slidethe tranny back.

Mike- Nice pair of Chevelles, especially love the '67. Were you at the Chevelle Car Show last summer in Arlington? Your car looks very familiar. If the weather is decent for a couple hours this weekend I should come down and introduce myself to you and Ben...:beers:...oh-ya, and have a beer...:D

Adapter plate?? are you going from a buick engine to a chev trans?
Just an FYI- I was using an adapter plate from my cad engine to a chevy trans. I beleive i was using the TCI one... I busted 3 flexplates before switching to a BOP trans. some pictures of the flexplate are in my photo link (in my truck pictures)
RAMBO Feb 8th, 07, 1:54 PM Actually he's going the other way- chevy engine to a BOP tranny... Only has 2 bolts (the lowest one on either side) holding it on!
necessity is the mother of invention.... :)
FedEx Reports my new gas tank is on the truck to be delivered as we speak! So I know what I'll be doing this weekend! :beers:
66SSFan Feb 9th, 07, 2:46 PM We should all get together when the weather permits it. Thanks for the compliments guys. Frank, I must have just missed you last year in Colby, I saw your car and returned a little later and it was gone, nice car! Ben's elco is awesome also, love that big block! I'm not sure when the saturday night cruise in Clearview starts again but I only live 2 miles from there, it would be a good place to meet up?
66 Buick Special Feb 9th, 07, 4:09 PM I took the Buick out when I got home from work yesterday and picked up my new tabs. Then I found a reason to drive to the parts store, (not the three closest ones either). Then I missed my turn to my house and drove north for a while... then took the long way home.
I did see a '64-65 Elcamino aqua in color with turbo muffs on it by the sound of it, at the same light Hwy 99 and Airport Way) was a '68-69 Chevelle red with white deck stripes and no hood.
Greg
flink69SS Feb 9th, 07, 4:54 PM Greg- That was you in the primer black Buick that was turning onto Airport while I was at the light. That's my '69 with my new 468 I just dropped in. I have hood clearance issues but no big deal.
66 Buick Special Feb 9th, 07, 5:31 PM Yep that was me!
To funny! Well, I kinda met you... :D
Chevy_Rat Feb 9th, 07, 6:06 PM Man, it's been a long time since I've been back on this site; I'm in Lacey WA but don't take my 70 SS up that way. I see now that there are quite a few WA folks around now. Good to see that....
Bruce
gilby246 Feb 9th, 07, 10:18 PM I took the ol girl for a spin around Brier this afternoon. I think its only got about 30 or so miles on it since i dropped in the new 400 . Im a bit hesitant to drive to far right now (I have no one to call if I break down)... im getting the itch though.. and its killin me !!!!!
66 Buick Special Feb 10th, 07, 11:45 AM I'm going to be over on Larch Way this morning dropping my kids off. I'll be in your backyard gilby.
If you hear something rumbling and look up and see a lot of flat black cruising by.. that would be me LOL
gilby246 Feb 10th, 07, 5:09 PM yp, right up the road from me
took the car out today and put some miles on it. Drove from shoreline up 99 past taco time up there in Lynnwood. then ran it down I-5 back to almost shoreline. First day I took it out when its clear, no fog or rain... sure does put out some blue smoke. Im going to assume with less then 100 miles on it (and everthing is new), the rings have not seated yet
saw some nice cars out too
RAMBO Feb 10th, 07, 5:57 PM Got my new gas tank installed this morning... took it out for a nice long cruise to "check for leaks" :D
anybody gonna make it up to clearview today... Dollars to doughnuts there will be some cars today... its been nice! :D :beers:
gilby246 Feb 10th, 07, 6:15 PM Im not sure where clearview/albertons is....
justkyle Feb 10th, 07, 8:31 PM So when are we going to have a TC northwest brunch meeting somewhere? I'm suprised there are no members from the Tacoma area. Maybe I should start driving around with a banner on my car.
66 Buick Special Feb 10th, 07, 11:18 PM I was going to head to Clearview tonight but ended up playing with the car instead.
Just got home from running it up and down Hwy99 for the 3rd time today.
Maybe if the weather cooperates next weekend we can get some of us to the two cruises.
Gilby, do you know where Thrashers corner is on the Bothell/Everett Hwy?
Go north on the Both/Ev Hwy to 180th, take a right... follow that to Hwy 9,
take a left. Go about 3 blocks and it will be on your left.
If we're both free and the weathers right I could meet you somewhere and you could follow me if you want on Saturday afternoon.
Greg
66SSFan Feb 11th, 07, 12:06 AM Ben , you should have stopped by, I could have helped you look for leaks!! I was out all day in the driveway trying to buff out that horrable paint on the '70. I Got it to shine a little bit, probably do a little more tomorrow if your out and about, stop by.

I know where I work, where I live and where the parts stores are.... and thats about it.
If the weather happens to be nice next weekend, Im game !!!!!!
66SSFan Feb 17th, 07, 1:03 PM If the weather stays this nice all day, I'm sure there will be some cars at clearview. I'll take the '70, anyone else?
66 Buick Special Feb 17th, 07, 4:48 PM I'll be there. About what time?
flink69SS Feb 17th, 07, 6:17 PM I'll try and get there. I have family in from out of state but I'd still like to get out for a short while.
66SSFan Feb 17th, 07, 6:21 PM I lost track of time, it's already 2:20!! I will go up around 3:30 to 4:00 I guess. It gets dark shortly after that. Just may have to go to Bugermaster for dinner!
gilby246 Feb 17th, 07, 8:39 PM well crap !!!... if I had read this earlier I would have joined you all.
Just put ol smokey in the garage and am now BBQ'ing.
("ol smokey" = Been having a PCV problem causing it to spew blue smoke, think i fixed it though)
RAMBO Feb 17th, 07, 10:20 PM I made it up at 4:45 and met Mike there, hung out for about 1/2 an hour till the clouds started rolling in...
Maybe next weekend when we have 10 more minutes of light :)
Later!
Ben
66 Buick Special Feb 18th, 07, 3:32 AM I fully intended on going up but got busy working on the car and then the weather was kicking up so I bagged it. I have no wipers.
I did get my back bumper changed out and modified the rear tail panel to accept the Skylark rear trim instead of the Special trim.
Now I have to wait until Monday or Tuesday to get the nuts to hold the trim piece on. Not sure if Tacoma Screw has Presidents Day off or not.
OPGI says my door panels will be here Wednesday! :)
Dave Feb 18th, 07, 3:52 AM I'm just about set to install the 3:08's, then I'll be able to get out and hook up with some of you guys. Where exactly is clearview?
66 Buick Special Feb 18th, 07, 5:58 PM Clearview cruise is in the Albertson's parking lot near McDonalds.
Map 176th street SE and State Route 9.
For you I'd probably come down Hwy 9 however its easiest for you.
You could come down SR 9 all the way from Arlington or take Hwy 2 to SR9 and head south.
Hopefully it will be nice next Saturday so we can all hook up.
Friday nights it's in Lynnwood at Taco Time just north of Kompact Kar Korner at 17210 Highway 99 Lynnwood, WA 98037.

The problem with Taco Time is everyone goes home by 7:30... We do need to start making a presence there because it seems to be mostly...Ferds...
Let's all try and plan a time for next Saturday somewhere. Later in the day is better for me with kids sports and stuff...
66 Buick Special Feb 18th, 07, 10:27 PM I live about 1.5-2 miles from Taco Time and have most Fridays of f during the summer so it works out well for me. :D
But you are right, if you have to drive very far after work on Friday you end up missing it.
We could figure out a Saturday at XXX in Issaquah too. I've never been but here it gets hopping.
RAMBO Feb 23rd, 07, 2:01 PM You'll love the 3.08's Dave! I have 3.07's in my elk and buzzing down the freeway is effortless... 75mph is right at 3000 RPM, which still leaves room for a downshift if you need to pass someone :D
The Friday Taco time cruise has been declining for a long time- used to be huge when it was both parking lots- the old Burger king & taco time... Regularly brought in 300-400 cars, but the last two years since burger king closed and all the new construction it has become pretty small...
The clearview one is still growing. It starts later on saturdays usually nobody starts showing until 5pm- it maxs out around 7- but there are generally folks still around till 8-9 depending on weather and daylight.
If you guys want to get together to cruise down for the XXX one, we could meet up north and do a backroad cruise down there through Duvall.
its all good! :)
Looks like i'm out for this weekend though- I've got some other plans friday and saturday- but Should be good to go for the next week. Of course you all know that Daylight savings kicks in on March 11th! Two weeks away and we'll have another hour of light at night to play! :beers:
Hey mike- Did you get a chance to talk to the guy with those ProStars?
kettbo Feb 28th, 07, 7:05 PM JustKyle in Puyallup,
George in Lakewood here out by Pierce College and Western State Hospital. I'm known to Ben "AHSOM" and Greg C, aka BuickSpecial. Greg came down last fall to conduct some business with me so he's the only one to see my 1970 Elky in other than digital means. Nice 10-footer, suffering some wear and tear but I get a thumbs-up or two every time I'm on the road. Under the hood I'm sporting a smogger 350 shortblock, some unknown mild performance cam, Performer intake and 600 Holley. I traded heads with BuickSpecial, now have 58cc 305 4-v units, chambers relieved, pockets throated for 2.02/1.60 valves. Making the jump from 8.2:1 to roughly 10:1 sure has changed my Elky. When I install the new 3-series posi, will go to 3.42. Currently saddled with 2.56 posi. Go figure. Assuming things go well, I should be assembling a low-buck 454 and be meeting Ben out at Auburn..... A classic Crate Motor 454HO/TH400 3.08 vs Budget Brawler 462/TH350/ 3.42 contest. I may talk like I'm really serious, ie, gotta win. I'm simply out to have fun.... I already have quite an assortment of goodies gathered-up for the Elky and 462 Rat.
What are you sporting? Where do you hang out?
I've been busy with a remodel since late 04. Will be done soon. Hope to enjoy life once again. I intend to cruise North at some point with some SouthSound Chevelles and Elkys once the weather breaks..... Locally I've been to Kelly's Diner down Pacific in SoSpanaway Fri evenings...has been some time though.
Frank sent pics of his nice ride.....
FRYNTYR Feb 28th, 07, 9:47 PM Hey George,

Hey Daryl,
Dave here, you sold me the 781's for my Chevelle. You'll have to look in my sig, and see the Motorvation picture. They look a little different now, good to see you around again. Dave.
flink69SS Apr 15th, 08, 6:35 PM I had to bring back the origination of "TCNW"...:hurray::hurray::hurray:
This is some fun reading...

68SS CLONER Jun 1st, 08, 8:54 PM Just found this thread !
I spend all my winter time on the Snowmobiles and on the Snowest forum but now that the weather is starting to improve it's time to shift gears a bit towards this forum !
I just came inside from doing a little work to clean up the '68 and decided to check in here to see if there were any other locals with Chevelles.
Maybe I'll run into you guys this summer.
