got the body panels lined up, and i'm ready to do a little body work, then paint. can anybody recommend some good fillers to use? also, since i'm on a real budget for this, i'm looking at the PPG OMNI line of paints to do a Marina Blue bc/cc job. i've head some good reviews and some bad reviews on this stuff, as well as some recommendations to go with a higher end clear over the OMNI basecoat. this isn't a permanent paintjob, i would just like the car to be one color, and have a little shine and flash to it for the next few years before going on the operating table for a complete rebuild.

any suggestions on the clearcoat? fillers?

thanks all

I painted mine with omni looks good to me. Some people don't like it but I had good luck with it. Clear went on fine too.

mark me down as anti omni. Worth it for the better stuff IMHO

thanks, guys..... Prof.- i figured you'd probably advise against it, but i simply cannot spring that kind of $$ per gallon on the good stuff. if it was a more permanent job, i'd say yes.

anyway, after a bit more research, it seems that Evercoat's Rage Gold is the way to go for body filler..... what would you recommend as a skim coat product?

Anti-Omni also, ive used it 1 time, and it will be the last, job turned out ok, however....everything else in my whole shop was coated with overspray.
I'm a believer in the higher quality stuff, my jobber handles Diamont and the economy limco.Ive used Limco LC-4000 and its not bad, kinda spray quality of DC-88NR which i like over the DC-92, and you can't beat the price $80/gal with hardener.

JimD- any specifics on the Limco stuff, how it compares to the OMNI stuff specifically? is there a website to order from? i'd just like to check it out before making the absolute final decision, and making the paint order.

https://www.bodyshopmall.com/index_us.html Here is a site with Tech sheets for the whole RM, Limco and glasurit lines. You may be able to order, don't really know i just refer to it for the tech stuff. You will have to sign up for a free account and password, but its well worth the couple minutes. All the tech sheets are in PDF's.
