: drip rail body caulking??

I'm currently restoring a 67SS. The area where the roof meets the drip rail appears to have some kind of caulking that is painted body color but is all cracked. What kind of caulking should be used?? I'm also assuming that this caulk should be applied to bear metal before painting the car. Anyone know the proper way to prep and apply this caulking?? Thanks M22

You can use regular seam sealer. 3-M makes a few different kinds.
Put it over primer not bare metal. that way it won't rust.

If you want to use the BEST, move up to a urethane sealer. I don't know the number but 3M makes one. It is in a foil pack and requires a special gun. It will shrink much less and is way more durable than the acylic ones.

If you go with 3M dont use the fast n firm, it cracks, the ultra pro is better.
Duramix makes a nice self leveling seam sealer, it's a urethane.
