I'm hoping someone can help me figure this one out. Somehow my front floor panels are gettting wet when it rains. It generally only happens when the car is sitting. It's not just damp but actually soaked. Does anyone know where the water could be getting in or anything that i should check as far as cracks or anything of the sort?
thanks

71Chev,
Most likely the water is comming from the floor vents in your "Kick Panels". These panels are suppose to have a sealant/putty around the back side as they are installed.
If your pannels have been removed and reinstalled without proper sealing the water will find it's way through. Also if the Kick panels have never been removed debries such as leaves and such will plug up the natural drain ways and water build up could find it's way through the seal. The original seal material may also be hardened and not sealing properly.
I would pull the kick panels and check out what's happening.

P.S.
A good replacement sealing material to use can be found at your local hardware store. I used "Rope Putty" from my local Ace Hardware.

thanks a lot for the advice.....i was thinking it might be that because i couldn't come up with anything else. How would i go about pulling those panels out? and should i just look for dried up seals?
thanks again

* remove sill plates
* pop off kick panel vent grill
* remove screws in recessed area behind grill
* disconnect vent cable for astro ventilation
in dash, (remove astro vent from dash to
to cable
* you then may have to loosen or remove park
brake pedal bracket.
* then you can remove kick panel.
Note: lower vent cable will remain connected to lower vent.
I would look for proper sealing as well as dirt, leaves ect behind the panel and lower front fender, lower cowl,
