: Good Guys - Columbus or Hershey?
LS_5 Jan 28th, 07, 10:37 PM I'm thinking about taking the coupe to a Good Guys this year. The one in Hershey in May fits the calendar better, but the one in Columbus in July sounds like it's much bigger.
Anybody been to one or the other? Any opinions on which location would be best?
Thanks.
Andy
BlueSS454 Jan 29th, 07, 12:49 AM Andy,
I heard that the one in Hershey last time was huge, well over 3,000 cars if I recall, may have even been upwarads of 5,000.
LS_5 Jan 29th, 07, 8:20 AM Thanks, Tom!
The one in Columbus gets 6.000, or so, I think - But then again, once you get over 1,000, you probably have more than your senses can take in anyway!

JYags Jan 29th, 07, 11:11 AM Come out Columbus, you won't be disappointed! We had over 6,000 cars last year but anything more than a couple thousand is plenty to keep you more than busy. We went for one day and probably only saw about 1/10th of the stuff at the show. Huge vendor area, just tons of stuff. We didn't know what to expect as it was the first time we went to Goodguys. Next time we go we plan to make a whole weekend out of it.
I'm sure Hershey is just as good. If you don't mind the drive to Columbus you should be rewarded with some great weather in July. Enjoy!
Tony1967 Jan 29th, 07, 1:38 PM I went to Columbus last year - my street rod buddys say it is the best one!
It was a great scene.

CT Mark Jan 29th, 07, 2:45 PM I went to Hershey in 2005 and had fun....but the show was a joke. I spent about an hour in traffic just pulling into the show! My car was never judged. Not a big deal....like I said since I had a good time....but what did I pay $65 for? Nothing but aggravation. If I ever go again, it will be as a spectator. :(
LS_5 Jan 29th, 07, 4:46 PM Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like Columbus is the ticket.
Anybody taken a car there? Are there any of the issues Mark mentioned in Hershey? Do they give you enough space between the cars to avoid door dings, etc.? Can you rope off your spot to keep people at a little bit of a distance? Can you leave early if you're not having a good experience?
Thanks again.
Andy
69ssmike Jan 29th, 07, 4:58 PM I missed last year, but been to Columbus twice. First year we spent the weekend and had a GREAT time, there were 3 cars and I got there early(6:00) and saved spaces in the back pavilion, otherwise bring your own SHADE!!! You can also leave through the back exit and save a LOT of headaches.

So I assume then it's first come, first served on the parking spots. No assigned spots. Is there any attempt to keep cars a reasonable distance apart or does everybody park how ever they chose?
Thanks.
Andy
69ssmike Jan 29th, 07, 8:13 PM Yep, first come. This isn't the corner cruise, I had no problems with parking. In fact, my old car was pretty nice, but with the quality of cars there I felt like I should have parked out in the lot:D I believe the car count was over 7,000 2 years ago.
LS_5 Jan 30th, 07, 8:36 AM Thanks for the info, Mike. I have one more question for you.
My car is just about finished after a 2+ year professional frame-off. In addition to the emotional investment (Father/Son car to be passed down), I've spent more $$ on it than I care to admit. 6-7,000 cars must equal at least 25,000 spectators - maybe more.
Based on what you saw/heard of how things were organized (notably parking, security, etc.), the other participants and spectators behavior in general, should I take the car - or just go as a spectator? I'd take the nearest bridge if anything happened to it - especially the first year it's complete.
Thanks, Mike.

69ssmike Jan 30th, 07, 3:20 PM I heard of no one with any problems, my car sat outside at the hotel also, with 0 problems. All the high dollar cars were trailered to the parking lot, then driven in. If you really want to see all the cars, get there early and sit by the gate, ALL the cars are driven in. Probably watched 4 rows of cars come in for 4-5 hours. We stayed at the Baymont? It's a little drive to the show but had plenty of parking and lots of places to eat.
LS_5 Jan 30th, 07, 6:43 PM Thanks for the info, Mike. Sounds like a great event! Just wish it wasn't the week before the ACES Hudson, Ohio Gathering. I'm definitely going to that.
I'll check out the website and call the info number. See what happens from there.
I appreciate the help.
