I use a modified electric fuel pump from a car. I installed some power wires(long enought to reach battery)and long fuel lines in/out. It doesn't work well with new cars anti-siphon devices in the filler neck, but works like a champ for the old chevelle. I don't syphon car to car, reason being you may be transferring sediment from one tank to another, i burn it in the lawnmower. Its very handy for in-tank fuel pump changes, if it doesn't fit thru the neck, loosen the filler hose on the tank and drain away.

If you decide to use a pump make sure you attach a good ground to the tank/frame. A spark inside your fuel tank would not be pretty!

The same rule applies to ANY type of pump - several industrial explosions/deaths occur each year due to improper grounding while pumping process WATER tanks with Air driven pumps! (Due to trace hydrocarbon accumulation in the tank vapor space ignited by static electrical spark.)
