I just got a 66 Chevelle about two months ago and have started a "look good" restoration. Since I am 17, and this will be my first car. My question is whether I should put a vinyl top on it? When I got it, it had a vinyl top on it, we took it off to prime it and the roof is all pitted and full of small dents, so filling it with bondo or primer is kind of out of the question. But the problem with putting a vinyl top on is that everywhere I look, I can't find the chrome mouldings for a 66. Does anybody know where I could find some or have any suggestions on what I can do.

In short No., but you are not alone...this is an item many 66 owners are looking for. They do go up on E-bay here and there, but prices are steep. You might want to first and foremost, post an ad here at Team Chevelle in our Public wanted section. You'd be surprised the amount of folks that see these ads...
Oh, and BTW...Yes, put the Vinyl back on if ya can http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
Good luck.

Aubin,Go for the tar paper top!
Just about every week lately there has been 66/67 vinyl top moldings on ebay pricey though, check hemmings, chicago muscle has sets sometimes or try mike @ reds classic auto parts.
If you get a set you can have it stripped, polished, and reanodized for about $50.
