I asked this question in convertibles because mine is. Maybe people in this section may be able to help as well. How many shimms are too many to get the gap to close between the door and quater pannel. At the rear mount I had to add around 3/4 in to get the gap acceptible. Any suggestions or shimming methods I need to go back and try??

I'm a little lost here. You don't shim the door to the quarter panel, it has adjustment at the door hindges. You do shim a fender to the door once the door is set to the quarter panel correctly. If your fitting a fender to a door and you need 3/4" of shims something is off. Could be many things. Wore out body bushings, previous crash damage, bent frame, bent fender, & or body bushings installed incorrectly. If you can't find the problem you can bring it to a shop or just keep shimming. Odds are that if you need that many shims there, as you go to hang the rest of the sheet metal, you are going to run into more problems.

Not the hinge side . Im attempting to close the gap on the quarter pannel side. The door is in its correct alignment with fender.
