my plates are not state issue but not personal either. I was going to use Black Betty on my SS but my wife thinks I will "cause problems" with "some" people. So instead I bought vintage license plates for the SS and the Cougar for their relative year models (kinda unique)
ie the Cougar is a 1970 and it's plate is 12 e 206 Florida 1970 /71
12 for the month it was made and of course year of 70 for the car/ plate itself.

The SS will get a Texas plate from 1965.

I use a WI Collector plate so it's a state issued #. No peronalizaton allowed, but you only have to pay for it 1 time and then you're set for life

I wish we could use old plates here but WI doesn't allow it

Hey Robert...

Well, I have antique license plates. In my current state (Tennessee) you can get them for cars over 25 years old. There is a ONE TIME ONLY registration fee of ~$25 and never pay a fee again.

I ordered them back in the 80's, when they were still embossed with "CALIFORNIA", so it will look pretty "correct" (for 1966) when I paint them black...

My wagon has the original "Black Plates"...

http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/data/500/medium/Ranyhyn.jpg

Just substitute CAR for horse and you'll get the idea :)

Ranyhyn are the great horses of the Land. These horses live on the Plains of Ra, and are tended by a race of humans known as the Ramen. The Ranyhyn are as normal horses, but are larger, always have a star and are in some indefinable sense enhanced by the Earthpower of the Land, so that their speed and endurance, as well as intelligence, far outstrips that of normal horses. The Ranyhyn can be ridden by individuals they deem worthy, but a person who seeks such a mount must travel to the Plains of Ra and offer themself to the horses’ consideration. If a Ranyhyn accepts a rider, it is loyal to that rider to death. The Ranyhyn also have a limited ability to perceive the future; these horses can "hear" when their rider will need them, hearing their call days or even weeks before the rider even makes the call. Thus, when the rider needs the Ranyhyn, they can appear over the next hill as if by magic, which of course it is.

Reason: #1. They never made it.
#2. Every tool on planet comes up to me when i park the car and tells me they had an LS-6 etc... and then they ask me what year my car is!!!!!! So I came up with the LS-8 just to keep one step of them.

The 70 has AREA 51 on the front. It's not a state issued tag, just something I picked up in Las Vegas a few years ago. NJ doesn't require a front tag on historic registered vehicles so I put that one on there. My 69 has the state issued historic tags on it. I plan on getting a personal tag for the Charger. I'm not revealing it until I actually get it though :).

Chris-I used a site like that before getting mine. It wasn't accurate at all. I even tried my daily driver car, and it came back as available. The kicker is that anyone getting a personalized plate EVER in MN will exclude you from getting it, unless they sign it over to you.

In Kansas there can be a tag with the exact same thing on them for every county.
The only difference would be the county designation decal in the top left corner.

No, it wasnt any sort of thing like that. It was purely just a game where you could select your state and then put in any 6 digits just to see what it looked like. It was a fun internet game if you will. Nothing related to finding plates available from the state.

The toys eat the money. And if by chance you do save some money, Another toy will come along and swallow that to.
