Any help on this greatly appreciated....

I am under the impression that the early 1967 Chevelle columns had a steering shaft that went directly down to the flexible coupling on the gear. Later in the year (and for sure in 1968), the Chevelle column was modified to use a seperate intermediate steering shaft.

The dash inside the car and the steering gear remained in the exact same locations 1967 to 1968. So whether or not there was a solid steering shaft or a seperate intermediate steering shaft, I would think that a 1968 column should install directly into a 1967.
