I am going to cut the roof section off my 73 but need to remove the glass first. Any easy tricks available?? I really don't need the glass except the side windows, the front was chipped, and got cracked anyways, plus I dont need the front and rear glass.
I have a big heat gun, was considering heating up the butyl sealant and prying out the glass.
Back some time ago, I popped out the rear window by hand, but there was no adhesion to the sealant, thus the leakage

No easy way, you have to heat up and get the butyl seal out. I did this all the time when building enduro cars for oval track. trying to force out the window will just result in a mess...but then if you dont care a good sledge hammer blow will make things go quick!

once when getting a demo derby car ready,we let a caddy sit in the hot sun for a few hours.me and another guy put our feet on the windshield and pushed it out.took a little while to work it loose but it came out.take all the trim and moldings off first . http://members.spree.com/entertainment/ochrisl/

Cool, I thought heating the seal would work. I've got a pretty gnarly heat gun, can get over 500°F, looks like a big red hair dryer. That should do the trick, I got some leather gloves too, no burns thanks

Thanks guys

That trick worked great except for the Windshield. That can't withstand too much force without cracking. The side windows would have been real tough with piano wire, no room to get in there.

Ok guys heres a nice trick that was shown to me by an old bodyman. Get some lighter fuild and run it all over the edges of the window. letting it seap in betwen the window and the seal. You will see the fuild moving in bettween the two. then get some paino wire push it through the widow and seal. have one guy inside and the other out side. now you work the wire in and out pulling through the window slowly. remeber you are genrating haet on the wire. work it back in forth like a saw. once you are all the way around the window all you should need is a slight push and the window will come out. I have done this and it works great! good luck
