I found what I believe to be a '74 Laguna nose in a junkyard. I bought it for $50. It's all there, but the urethane has millions of hairline cracks in it. It's sorta spongy looking.

I sanded it down, patched all the nicks and cracks with flex filler, and took it to a body shop for primer and sealing. With handling, the primer cracked in many places.

I don't know if all factory noses will have this problem and it's just the "nature of the beast". But, because I didn't want the final paint to crack, I decided against installing it.

But I LOVE that nose for my '74 ElCo!

I found some fiberglass versions at US Body Source. They have a heavy duty and a race version. The race version is a light shell not intended to be used with grille, headlights, etc. The heavy duty version supposedly can have factory stuff attached.

It's pricey, but I'm considering it. Has anyone tried / used one of these units? Do they fit reasonably well? Will the hardware go on OK?

Could tou put it on the car so it's solidly mounted and then fix / paint it? That way it wouldn't flex so much on you.

Did you use flex addative to the paint?

I know that many of the GTO's/Firebird's from the late 60's and early 70's with the Endura nose front bumpers had the same hairline cracks problem over the years. I'm not sure if the Laguna's nose was made of the same material, but I would venture to say that it is the same. 64elkynss

they make flex primer for those parts and flex additive to put in the paint
