I needed to replace the crome/blk tail beizel and lens for my 69 Malibu...the old ones were disgusting. T do this I had to practically rip off the whole bumper(those bolts were really on there)and then the rear tail panel!!! What the heck was GM thinking by doing this? Anyone?? I saw alot of dirt and a little rust down under there though...so I am gonna take care of that before putting the bumper back on..at least some good came out of that sleeper nightmare!!!

How about Ford, Chrylser, Nissan, Toyota, and every other make? Believe me, every single one of them do stupid things. Doing this stuff everyday, there are times you wish you could get your hands around the neck of the designers responsable so you can squeeze the life out of them. smile.gif Just kidding guys.
But yeah, it is nuts.

Id like to get my hands on the IDIOT at GM that thinks weld on door hinges is a good idea graemlins/sad.gif
About the moron at Ford that thought up those tiny weak little J-clips that they use to hold the box down on trucks?? Seems every sinlge one spins loose and you end up getting the torch out to cut the bolts loose graemlins/angry.gif

 I've taken mine on and off several times without touching the bumper.
There's 4 studs inside the trunk to get the corner housing loose, pull out as far as you can, tip down, and lift up and out. Unless your bumper fits differently than mine. Where I have trouble with this setup is that I have to take the corner pieces off to get the outside bumper bolts off. That's why my bumper-bolts are only finger-tight so I can remove the bumper without cracking any paint by removing/installing the corner housing.

I had to take the company Astro van to the dealership body shop because of those damn welded on hinges. So what did they do? They put bolts in them. Go figure.
