hello all, this is my first post on this site. i`m doing a frame off on my 67 ss. just wondering if anybody has used the after market door skins and found that the body line is off by a 1/4" the factory skin measure 15" from crease to crease at rear of the door. the after market skin measures 15 1/4.i got this skin from goodmark, they sent me another skin just to find out it was the same way. goodmark told me it was off just a little bit. to me it`s a lot, so i drove to npd an hour from me to measure there`s. guess what? same thing. i talked to ausleys and they admitted to having a problem with there`s. help!!! does anybody sell a skin that is right? any ideas will be helpfull. thanks, Joe

Welcome

Unfortunately I can't answer your question but...

Can ya just patch it. Thats what I did to mine.

If not another source is Hinshaw's. The floor pans I got from there fit great.

Joe welcome to the board. I bought a pair of goodmark skins for my 70. They fit nice and match all the contours of the quarter and the fender. When you measured the goodmark was the skin just laying there flat or mocked up on the door? If it was mocked up on the door it might change your measurements but probably not a 1/4" I would mock it up to the door and see how it fits to the old skin see how the lines fit. It just might be that the skin wasnt positioned right and gave you a wrong measurement.

Ive bought many repop parts for my 70 chevelle all were goodmark parts and not one complait. Also what kind of damage is it that leads you to believe that it needs skinned, can it be patched?...Eric

chevellejoe - I am having the same problem. All of the 67 door skins are made by the same manufactor over seas. I've been told that the seam lines will not line-up because they were made of thin sheet metal and they flatten out and will not hold the bow shape that the fenders have. I got my set of skins from Ausleys. Currenly we are trying to bow out the skins and shim the fenders to flatten out a bit, this should bring the seam to match the fenders.
