: How many of you run braided tranny cooler lines?

My TH350 tranny cooler lines are old and one of them has a kink in it. I was considering ripping out all the old steel line and running braided tranny lines with AN fittings.

Just curious what a good size of braided line to run would be and what size AN fittings would I need that would screw into my trans, and my radiator?

Thanx.

Hi

I'm running Aeroquip hose and fittings on my tranny lines, works awesome and they are available in all kinds of different configurations. I have run them on several projects. After all, if Nascar trusts them, why shouldn't we ??

I am running an external cooler, along with a th400. I got into contact with a place called race parts solution, in FLorida. I just had to tell them how much length I needed, sizes, fittings, ect, they pretty much knew what I needed. So I got all the fittings, and the braided hose for about 80.00. I used a small amount of teflon on the fittings that go into the trans and the ones that go into the cooler. 6 months and thankfully no puking yet...

8AN lines do the trick. Fittings I'm not sure. Just remember to secure them in place. Braided lines, in time, can saw their way though paint, plastic & rubber.

Well I was thinking of securing them to the frame with rubber coated metal clamps. :)

-8 will work as said, but might be overkill. Measure your stock lines. I think they are 5/16 od? If so, then -6an would work, and tecnically, a -4 would be about the same size. Hose is measured ID, and tubing is OD.

I only mention this becsue I just bought some fittings and hose for -8 fuel lines from my reg to carb. The -8 stuff is pretty darned expenseive. If there's a good reason to use a big line, then do it. If not, I would buy the smaller cheaper fittings and hose..... just my $.02.

i use the #6 teflon braided lines, i use the b & m cooler with 1/2" pipe fittings, and 2 inverted flare fittings for the trans(same fittings used for carbs)
if going from trans to hard lines, you cant use the teflon lines as their not designed to slip over hard lines, so an adapter would be needed-if your using the radiator cooler, then use same adapter as trans

AN4 is just fine. It's just as large of an internal diameter as any other passage in the circuit.

i use #6 for trans lines.--#8 fuel line.--#6 power steering lines
