Two questions: Is the El Caminio frame the same as the two-door station wagon or is it a separate frame?

Has anyone shaved the door handles and gone with remote soleniods? Is there a kit?

I think the 2 and 4 door wagons as well as the convertibles all had the same boxed frame as the EL Camino.

In the september 97 issue of super chevy they installed remote doors on a 64 el camino. They used UNKL AL'S phone number 360 652 0701. They are a pretty good product, seems that alot of the street rod crowd use their prodcuts, havnt heard nothing bad about them.

Since you did not state a year, I took it from your profile that you would be interested in a 1971 frame. The interchange book I looked in says that for 68-72 the station wagon and EC frame interchange and have part number 6263665. I think that these wagons were all 4 door, though.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the elky and wagon are not the same! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif they are not interchangeable. you can put a elky frame on a wagon but not the other way. the elky frame has boxed frame rails like a convertible. therefore if you put a wagon frame (non boxed) in an elky you will buckle the quarter panels! this is for 68 to 72 frames. same deal with convertibles (boxed) and 2 door coupes (not boxed). and I assume it goes with out saying that the 2 door and convertibles frames will not fit on elky or wagon. 4 doors are stretched 2 door frames and don't work on anything else. the only thing you can use is a 68 to 72 elky frame period.
