Well I can now say I am a proud owner of a 1969 Chevelle. Good frame and decent interior, but....the body is pretty much shot. Both the fenders and rear quarter panels. I've found Year One and Goodmark for replacement panels. My question is are they any other places to buy panels that are good quality, but not that expensive? Thanks, btw I'm gonna be loadin you guys with questions that I can't find answers for. (first project car)

Potsy, please use the search before asking, comment on what you found and didn't find and you'll get better answers ;)

Buy the sheetmetal locally. Save shipping & you can look at it before handing over the credit card. I know GroundUp just moved to Connecticut, they will sell Goodmark. Make it a day trip.

I never understood why some of you guys always tell the new guys to use search, whats wrong with answering a few questions, thats one reason I dont post much. If you help new people they probably become members is the way I would look at it. Just my opinion .

Simple: because the answers to his questions are already here. They've been gone over a thousand times and the answers are still the same.

I've logged-on to this board almost daily since I joined and am amazed at how lazy some people are. I've never even done some of this stuff, yet, I know the answer because I've read it here over and over. But that's just me. I like to know everything about what I'm gonna do before I do it.

The point to the search suggestion is this: get the basics first. Have some idea of what you are talking about. Find out the common stuff and THEN post a question that is specific to your situation.

The best example I can think of is the bench-to-bucket swap. It's been done a thousand times. The guys that have done it have posted two thousand responses. There are a couple of things you need to know regarding the brackets and where to place them. Beyond that, it's pretty straight forward. I chose my seats, bought the brackets and test fitted everything based on what I learned from searching the database and reading. I've even posted an answer to THE SAME QUESTION two times myself.

Now, if you'd gotten as far as buying the Goodmark bracket set and it didn't look right sitting on the floorboard, THEN you post your question here. It is easy to get them mixed up so that the seat doesn't sit level.

This applies to sheet metal, paint, engine mods or whatever. The members here are ALWAYS willing to help with even the simplest answer. His point was: the question is generic and the answer can be found by using the search function. Why tie-up site bandwidth with a question about a Comp Cam when you haven't even called Comp Cams yet?

I think posty8753 had a legitimate question but I felt it was necessary to emphasize using the search function before posting a question so that your question is more specific and based on what you learned from reading all the previous posts on that subject.

I too have been on this Board since it was formed and on Mitch's OLD Chevelle Message /news Board B-4 That.. I never ceases to amaze me, When a Newbie comes on board, he will ask questions , and I would be willing to bet except on Benchracing, there are FEW if any questions that have not been addressed B-4. There is no such thing as a DUMB question and IMO that go's for previously asked Questions...

Link him an answer, instead of typing
"Potsy, please use the search before asking"

PS Not trying to FLAME you Chevellnut.. you been hear and have helped out trough the years. BUT as for Potsy8753 and this being his 1st project, first Chevelle Owner and New to the Board. and no FAQ , a little on the bristley side..

One piece of advice regarding quarters from Ground Up... We're in the process of putting them on our 69 and they are not made well at all. They aren't bent in the correct places and it's been quite a chore getting them to fit. I plan on calling Ground Up with some suggestions, so if you can get Goodmark at all, I'd highly suggest it.

This post isn't meant to insult Ground Up, I have hundreds in parts waiting to be put on the car and I'm sure those parts are just fine.

I also think a newbie deserves to have questions answered, it sucks to be the new guy, but happens to us all at least once or twice in our lifetime...
